FAQs about the
SOFT CARPET UPRIGHT VACUUM CLEANER
Most residential steamers use boilers that are designed for low pressure operation. While effective in some applications, low pressure steam leaves behind a considerable amount of hot water residue during cleaning and requires long contact times for disinfecting surfaces and objects. Dry steam, also known as “saturated steam”, is produced when water is heated and pressurized beyond its normal boiling point of 212°F.
The higher the temperature/pressure of the steam, the less water the steam will contain by mass.
The Soniclean Varro combines high heat with 7 bars of pressure, to produce dry steam that contains no more than 5% water by mass.
Most steamers feature a boiler that needs to be directly filled with water. Once the steamer runs out of water, it must be left to cool for at least an hour before refilling. The Soniclean Varro features a 0.58 gal. stainless steel boiler paired to a 0.55 gal. cold water tank, that continuously pumps water into the boiler. This system allows the user to refill the steamer with water while in operation. Continuous refill means that you can steam clean non-stop for hours!
A bar is a metric unit of pressure. One bar is equal to 14.5 psi or 0.99 atmospheres.
Distilled or Reverse Osmosis water does not contain sufficient concentrations of minerals to allow for optimal steam production and cleaning performance. The ideal water TDS (total dissolved solids) should be within: 30 – 120ppm. If your home’s tap water hardness is high, descaling the machine more frequently is advised for optimal performance.
- Unplug the machine from the power source. Wait until the appliance cools down completely (may take up to 12-24 hours).
- Unscrew boiler cap (1) by using the boiler key, empty the boiler and screw the cap back on (DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE BOILER CAP).
- Remove the refill tank cap and empty the refill tank by carefully inverting the machine over a sink or bucket.
- Mix one packet of descaling powder with 35 fl oz. of cold water. Once the powder is completely dissolved, add the mixed descaling solution to the refill tank and replace the refill tank cap.
- Turn the steamer ON and wait until the appliance reaches operating temperature.
- Once the steamer reaches operating temperature, turn the machine OFF and unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet. Let the appliance completely cool down.
- Once the steamer cools down, repeat step 3. (Don't forget to screw the boiler cap back on.) Once the boiler has been drained, you are now ready to refill your steamer with tap water and resume cleaning.
If you plan on storing the machine for more than 7 days, we recommend emptying the boiler and water tank to avoid any scale build up in the machine while not in use.
The applications for steam cleaning are truly endless. If used properly, you can clean and disinfect almost any object or surface. For sensitive surfaces like silk, delicate rugs, leather, etc… make sure you use low steam power at a safe distance. Its always recommended that a small, inconspicuous area is test cleaned before steaming the entire surface.
